Opinion

Julia Roberts honored her iconic starring role in “Pretty Woman” and the film’s late director, Garry Marshall, last night by appearing at a special performance of the Broadway adaptation, which is being staged at the iconic Nederlander Theatre in New York.

The 50-year-old actress donned black leather pants and slinky black patent Stuart Weitzman sandals for the occasion.

Roberts, who is headed back to the small screen this fall in Amazon’s “Homecoming,” a new psychological thriller inspired by its namesake podcast, glowed as she waved to fans and posed on the red carpet.

The Academy Award–winning actress wore a chic, mainly black ensemble with a fun bright orange “Laverne & Shirley” graphic T-shirt (a nod to the 1976 sitcom Garry Marshall created). The mom of three accessorized with purple-tinted aviator sunglasses, a black clutch and her go-to black sandals.

Meghan Markle Turns 37: A Look at Her Best Duchess Style Moments

Opinion

There’s no denying that this has been the wildest, most world-changing year of Meghan Markle’s life. Since the beginning of her relationship with Prince Harry, all eyes have been on the pair, but more pointedly, the former “Suits” actress and her sense of style. Now, with today marking the newly minted duchess’ 37th birthday, FN rounded up our picks of her best looks this summer.

Last week, while attending the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Club with Prince Harry, Markle showed off a denim belted frock courtesy of Carolina Herrera’s resort ’19 collection and her go-to heels, Aquazurra’s Deneuve pumps featuring a nude suede finish. The silhouette comes with a pointed toe, cut-out detail and a back tie fastening. The Duchess of Sussex expertly accessorized this look with Tom Ford sunglasses, a J.crew Rattan straw clutch bag and blue Birks Bee Topaz stud earrings.

On July 17,  Markle stepped out with Prince Harry for the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition, held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the Southbank Center of London sporting a House of Nonie nude sleeveless trench dress from the ready-to-wear label’s spring ’18 collection paired with coordinating Dior Essence pumps. She polished things off with Birks Bee white quartz stud earrings and a nude leather Mulberry Clifton clutch bag.

The week prior, the California-born duchess donned a chic black Emilia Wickstead Bespoke Cloque dress and matching black suede Aquazzura Deneuve bow-embellished pumps. Markle added Birks Muse citrine and diamond drop earrings and a black satin Givenchy clutch back to complete her look.

Meghan Markle Wears One of Her Favorite Shoe Brands to a Wedding on Her Birthday

Opinion

For her first birthday as a Royal, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle spent the morning celebrating love.

Seen arriving to the St. Mary the Virgin Church, the 37-year-old was out in support of her husband Prince Harry, who served as best man for friends Charlie van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks who were tying the knot.

For the occasion, the American-bred Leo wore a belted Club Monaco dress complete with an airy skirt of color-blocking pleats. To accessorize, she focused on the essentials including a hat from London-based milliner Philip Treacy, a black Kayu clutch and a gold bracelet from jeweler Shaun Leane. To complete her look, Markle chose a pair of velvet Aquazzura sling-back pumps that were elevated with an elegant bow.

Whereas more examples of Markle’s wedding style are sure to roll-in in the future, we can predict that her selections will continue to reflect her demure sartorial sense as well as her favorite designers such as Philip Tracey and Aquazzura. Markle recently wore the aforementioned accessory brands with a long-sleeve cocktail dress from Oscar de la Renta while attending the wedding of Princess Diana’s niece, Celia McCorquodale and George Woodhouse.

When it comes to the rest of Markle’s plans for the day, they appear to be in wraps. However, the royal family did make a public show of adoration by posting moments and sweet messages to the birthday-girl on their social media pages. The well-wishers included Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, her father-in-law, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Ariel Winter Rocks the Pantless Trend in Soaring Los Angeles Weather

Opinion

With Kendall Jenner rumored to be a catalyst, the trend of stepping out sans pants began nearly three summers ago. And after gaining favor among fashion darlings such as Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna; it can almost be guaranteed that when the temperatures begin to soar their bottomless statement returns with fervor.

This summer, those carrying the baton have been Hailee Steinfeld who wore an oversized-men’s t-shirt with pointy-toe Aquazzura pumps to a Post-It event in New York and J.Lo who pulled off the style by donning a shirt-dress and thigh-high denim Versace boots after visiting TRL in Times Square.

Wearing up-to-there black shorts, Winter covered her torso with a long white sleeveless t-shirt and finished the look with simple black sneakers.

And effortlessly showing skin, is a skill not lost on Winter, who often does so while out and about or working red carpets. In particular, the 20-year-old is a fan of showing off her abs while on dates with her beau and actor Levi Meaden.

Perhaps, it’s a gift from staying in the gym.

Queen Letizia Wears Elongating Pants and Espadrilles to a Sailing Event

Opinion

Queen Letizia of Spain is making a case for becoming one of the best-dressed royals.

On her most recent outing with the royal family including her mother-in-law, former Queen of Spain Sofía, her husband King Felipe of Spain and their two daughters Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía of Spain; Letizia upheld her ongoing reputation as a master of coastal chic.

To attend dinner at the 37th Copa del Rey sailing contest in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the royal went with an easy breezy nautical look consisting of a white sleeveless blouse, stripped pants and espadrilles.

And while she’s known for her affordable style, the royal also frequently makes a case for wearing brands that are based in Spain.

Earlier this week, the 45-year-old wore a pair of hand-woven goat-skin sandals from Barcelona’s Nagusia. And a few weeks earlier, she was spotted wearing strappy espadrilles from Mint & Rose.

For the Spanish born style maven, home is where the heart is and apparently the best fashion.

Opinion

After being spotted in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, Alessandra Ambrosiodemonstrates how to effortlessly transform a workout ensemble into street wear.

Before having a sweat, the Brazilian bombshell and mother of two, showed up to her yoga studio in a purple sports bra, ombre leggings emblazoned with palm trees to match and completed the look with a pair of simple gray sandals.

Perhaps, due to being a professional at exercising or her natural preparedness for style, the former Victoria Secret model accessorized to the max by donning several gold necklaces, layered bracelets, a watch and a ring.

Blac Chyna Wears the Furry Pool Slide Trend With a Maroon Tracksuit

Opinion

Seen as early as 2016, pool slides left backyards and made their way onto the catwalk courtesy of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s artistic director debut at Dior during Paris Fashion Week.

Shortly after, the leisure look trickled into the realm of street style and got picked up by early adopters such as Victoria Secret model Martha Hunt, Justin Beiber and Rihanna.

Most recently, the latest celebrity to rock the unisex-footwear trend is model Blac Chyna who was freshly photographed climbing out of her Ferrari while wearing a purple Adidas tracksuit and Fendi glasses which she finished with a pair of the black fuzzies that were complemented with pink socks.

Take note, the furry fabric of her slides is a sure hint that this trend is here to stay.

Pool slides have already been embraced by high-fashion designers such as Valentino, Chanel and Givenchy during their nascent and are now currently being dominated by Gucci. The Italian-brand reportedly has the most coveted slide out of all luxury designers on the market with its famous web stripe slides and right behind them is Prada with their own rubber version.

Blac Chyna is most recognized for her involvement to the Kardashian-Jenner clan after dating Rob Kardashian who founded the sock design company Arthur George.

When it comes to footwear, the mother and entrepreneur has been known to favor sneakers such as the Yeezy Boost 350 by Kanye West where she has dropped over $7,000 in a single shoe-shopping spree or glamorous staples such as stilettos and sling backs.

Dior Amour: From the Supernatural to the Sublime

Opinion

It’s a well-known fact that Christian Diorwas a very superstitious man. The designer, who suffered from anxiety, was known to carry at all times a small cluster of talismans in his pocket: a lucky four-leaf clover, piece of wood, gold coin, star and two hearts. Those symbols inspired Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior Amour collection, which will be sold exclusively at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver and a dedicated pop-up shop at Holt’s store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, from Aug. 4 to Aug. 20.

In addition to the Canadian retailer, Dior Amour will be available on Aug. 4 in China, in time for the Chinese equivalent of Valentine’s Day, the Qixi Festival, which is celebrated on Aug. 17.

The operative color at the dedicated spaces at the two Holt Renfrew locations is a deep, ripe red for fixtures, walls and furniture. Lest anyone forget what the theme is, framed hearts complete the decor.

Ready-to-wear, priced from $970, includes knit sweaters with heart symbols and others inscribed with J’aDior Amour; red Swiss dot skirts; and bomber jackets decorated with patches, such as a heart with the message “Open Your Heart” inside. Shoes, starting at $1,150, include high-heeled black sandals with a fringed heart on the front and sneakers covered with multi-colored embroidered hearts; jewelry, with an opening price of $390, features red lacquered heart-shaped necklaces in the form of locks that are topped with a gold star. The same design appears in bracelets and rings. Lady Dior handbags, starting at $3,400, can be embellished with patches such as multicolored hearts with a handmade DIY look to personalize the My Lady Dior bag.

This isn’t the first time Chiuri’s dipped into Dior’s legacy and the designer’s penchant for mysticism. For Dior’s 70th anniversary last year, Chiuri designed a limited-edition navy silk scarf for Galeries Lafayette that featured a celestial map of star signs and mini Lady Dior handbag embroidered with stars and the message, “I Feel Blue.”

Manafort Wears Custom, the Judge: Not So Much

Opinion

Judge T.S. Ellis 3rd is apparently a Men’s Wearhouse fan.

For at least the second time since the trial against Paul Manafort started, the judge presiding over the case used the men’s retail chain as a stark comparison to the astronomical prices President Trump’s onetime campaign chairman spent on his wardrobe. The initial indictment against Manafort, who is on trial in federal court in Alexandria, Va., on bank and tax fraud charges, details that he spent $1.3 million on clothes.

On Thursday morning, Ellis responded to the special counsel’s release late Wednesday of a collection of photographs showing the luxury suits and sportswear prosecutors say Manafort purchased using money from foreign bank accounts.

“It wouldn’t matter if he spent the money on Men’s Wearhouse clothes,” Ellis said according to a transcript from The Washington Post. “All the evidence of the fancy suits really is irrelevant and besmirches the defendant,” he said. “Most of us don’t have designer suits…it engenders some resentment.”

On Wednesday, Ronald Wall, chief financial officer for House of Bijan in Beverly Hills, testified that between 2010 and 2014, Manafort spent more than $334,000 at the specialty retailer, which boasts that it is the “most expensive store in the world.” This included a $21,000 limited-edition black titanium Royal Way watch, a $33,000 “blue lizard” jacket, an $18,000 suede coat, a $14,000 quilted silk jacket, a $12,000 brown pinstriped suit, pants priced around $2,800 apiece, dress shirts costing $1,500 each and ties that averaged about $950 each, according to the government’s exhibits.
